Jesus and The Goddess, Reckoning Christianity & the Divine Feminine. This course is an initiation into the Goddess mysteries for women who are curious about re-claiming our spiritual roots in integrity with the divine feminine face of God. In history, Goddess culture has often been cast outside of Christian orthodoxy and put in the category of heretical, demonic, and pagan. Whether we identify with Christianity or not, it’s long history and influence has shaped much of the western world. And we have this dark history of witch burnings and women banned from the offices of the priesthood. Why do we need a divine feminine face of God?

Consider this: our current global economy creates a climate where being born a girl costs a family more money in projected loss of income and dowry expenses. Every year we lose 2 million baby girls to sex-selective abortion and infanticide. That’s 4 girls a minute. It is estimated that 117 million women are missing due to gendercide. That’s as many deaths as WWI, WWII and AIDS combined. In China 66 million women are missing; that’s 10.3% of their female population. As populations age, male preferred communities are experiencing more frustration as young men lack available women with whom they can share their love and their lives. These skewed populations historically find outlets for their unrest in violence and war.

UN World Health Organization revealed that nearly 35% of women across the globe have experienced physical and/or sexual violence. According to the Deputy Executive Director of UN Women, Lakshmi Puri, “The major causes of violence are the extremely unjust and flawed beliefs that men and women, boys and girls are not equal. And from that the whole culture of discrimination develops and violence is a symptom of that discrimination.”

This Goddess stuff is not obscure and unrelated to our present global challenges. As many mystics have discovered, the secret to balance on earth is rediscovering a relationship with the Divine Father AND the Divine Mother. As my teacher, Swami Kaleshwar taught: the father is in the mother, and the mother is in the father. This holds all of creation in sacred unity: the chalice and the blade, the star of David, sacred opposites in the tree of life.

Jessica Zdenek is a certified 230 Hour Yoga Teacher, a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, a graduate of St. Olaf College, with over 10 years of experience in ministry. She is a student of Swami Sri Kaleshwar & is practicing the Holy Womb Mantra, the Five Element Mantras, and she loves to sing. She has led many retreats and created sacred spaces for people of all ages in a variety of settings. She presently resides in Moorhead, MN and runs Taraloma Earth Temple where she offers full moon and new moon fires and sees clients in person and on-line.

I’ve been teaching yoga for the past seven years (a student for 19 years), enjoying the bhakti path of singing mantras, and studying the Holy Womb purification practice with Swami Sri Kaleshwar. I see clients through my spiritual business Taraloma Earth Temple where I offer private yoga instruction, energy healings, and intuitive readings. I also speak and sing around town on occasion. I have birthed three kids, bonus mom, mom of cats and guinea pigs, and wife to a computer whiz.

I’ve authored three books through Taraloma Earth Temple Publications: Detoxing God is a memoir where I work through being raised in a conservative Christian military family, and how rediscovering the Goddess helped me through childhood trauma. My most recent book, The Circle of the Fall, Scenes from a Cosmic Tale, is a Greek styled imaginary adventure through time. And Paper Cranes is my first book of poetry.

I worked in The Episcopal Church of Chicago for ten years as a Youth Minister and Family Ministries Associate and taught creative confirmation classes, led sexual abuse prevention programs, and guided teenagers across the country on summer service work trips. I’m certified as a Dove Oracle Priestess with intuitive training, a level III Reiki practitioner, and 230 hour yoga certified. I am a graduate of St. Olaf College where I studied religion and majored in psychology and graduated cum lade. I’m also a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary where I received a Masters of Arts in Theology.
